About ScoutBrief

ScoutBrief is a competitor research tool for small businesses. You describe your business or idea in a sentence or two, and it finds your real competitors, what they charge and what their customers complain about, then suggests a plan for the next 30 days.

Who's behind it

ScoutBrief is a small, independent product built and run by Rijad Mujić. Questions, feedback and bug reports go straight to support@getscoutbrief.com.

How reports are made

  • Each report runs a live web search for your type of business and location, using Anthropic's Claude model.
  • A competitor is marked verified only if it was found in a search result, and the report links to that source.
  • When three real competitors can't be confirmed, the report says so and describes a representative type instead of inventing a name.
  • Every report ends with a note on what it couldn't verify.
  • Only public information is used: websites, listings, reviews and social media.

What a report can't do

It doesn't replace talking to customers, and it can't see private data such as how much a competitor actually sells. Treat it as a strong first pass, check the points that matter most for your decision, and recheck when things change.

The blog

The guides on the blog cover the same methods ScoutBrief uses, so you can do the research by hand if you prefer.
